How do they work? The Osymetric chainrings have been designed to reduce dead spots, offering a smoother more “naturally round” pedaling. Dead spots are increased on round chainrings, spurring the rider to cross them quicker. The pedaling frequency becomes higher leading to more fatigue. Thanks to the reduction of dead spots, Osymetric chainrings allow a natural pedaling frequency and therefore the use of a bigger gear ( 2 extra teeth on the chainring ).This leads to a decrease of 10% lactic acid reduction and a power gain of 10% at threshold.
Osymetric Outer Chainring For Shimano / Sram is a five bolt design available for 110 and 130 BCD.These chainrings are also compatible with FSA and Stronglight chainsets. Osymetric chainrings are unique because they are not an oval shape as other existing products and the position of each tooth has been studied specifically in relation with the force of the riders leg at this specific position. The chain rings varying diameter alters the effective gear ratio through out the pedal stroke, producing a higher gear on the downstroke when the rider has more power and then reducing the gear on the upstroke.
Assembly of these rings is the same as standard round rings, no need to extend chain.
